The Gathering
The Gathering

Mt Carmel Students

6:15 – 7:30 PM each Wednesday (Hangout Begins at 6)

The Gathering is a place for middle and high school students (6th-12th grade) to belong, have fun, and grow. The Gathering happens weekly, during the school year, on Wednesdays from 6:15 to 7:30 PM. At the Gathering, your student will experience some fun, high-energy team activities focused on developing stronger relationships between the students. They will also experience moments of worship built to deepen their relationship with Jesus and small-group discussion that allows them to be honest about the things happening in their life.

Gentle and Lowly
Gentle and Lowly

Beginning February 25 with Terry Roberts leading

Many Christians firmly believe that God loves them, yet often live with the quiet fear that He is constantly disappointed, frustrated, or on the verge of giving up on them. Because of this, we tend to focus heavily—though appropriately—on what Jesus has done to satisfy God’s wrath against sin. But an important question remains: How does Jesus actually feel about His people in the middle of their ongoing struggles and failures?

This study explores the heart of Christ through Matthew 11, where Jesus describes Himself as “gentle and lowly in heart” and invites weary people to find rest in Him. Rather than presenting a distant or reluctant Savior, Scripture reveals a Savior whose deepest disposition toward His people is one of tenderness, compassion, and welcome. The gospel does not flow merely from duty or obligation, but from the very heart of God—a heart full of mercy for the sinful and the suffering.

Drawing from themes in Gentle and Lowly by Dane Ortlund, this study will guide participants into key biblical passages that reveal who Jesus truly is and how He feels toward His people. Together we will be encouraged by the steady, patient, and loving affections of Christ that sustain believers through the ups and downs of everyday life. This is an invitation to move beyond guilt and uncertainty and to rest more deeply in the gracious heart of Jesus.
